Frequently Asked Questions About Hardscaping Services

What are the benefits of hardscaping?

Hardscaping offers several benefits, including increased property value, improved outdoor living spaces, better drainage, reduced erosion, and lower maintenance requirements than traditional landscaping with plants.

What are some popular hardscaping materials?

Popular hardscaping materials include natural stone (such as flagstone or granite), concrete pavers, bricks, wood (like cedar or pressure-treated lumber), composite materials, and metals (like steel or aluminum).

How can hardscaping enhance curb appeal?

Hardscaping enhances curb appeal by creating visually appealing features like stone walkways, ornamental walls, and well-defined garden borders. These elements add texture, color, and structure to the landscape, making it more attractive.

What factors should be considered when planning a hardscaping project?

Key factors to consider include budget, local climate conditions, intended use of the space, desired aesthetics, maintenance requirements, and the expertise of hardscaping contractors or designers.

What is the difference between hardscaping and landscaping?

Hardscaping focuses on the non-plant elements of outdoor design, such as paths, walls, and structures, while landscaping involves the selection, placement, and care of plants to enhance the overall appearance and functionality of outdoor spaces.

What maintenance is required for hardscaping?

Maintenance for hardscaping typically involves periodic cleaning, sealing (for materials like pavers), and repairing any cracks or damage. Regular inspection and upkeep ensure longevity and preserve the aesthetic appeal of hardscape features.

What permits might be required for hardscaping projects?

The need for permits varies depending on local regulations and the project scope. Permits might be required for structural elements like retaining walls, patios above a certain size, or if significant grading or drainage changes are involved.

Can hardscaping be integrated with existing landscaping?

Yes, by coordinating materials, colors, and design elements, hardscaping can be seamlessly integrated with existing landscaping. It can complement plantings and enhance outdoor spaces’ overall harmony and functionality.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Please do yourself a favor and do not waste your time shopping around; Vincent Marando Landscaping are going to make you happy. It started out by me seeing some amazing work done with our next door neighbor's backyard, I wanted the same thing, I asked my neighbor for the phone number and I reached out to them. A professional gentleman with the name Ralph immediately came over and gave me a reasonable appraisal with a detailed description of what and how it would be done, he left some patterns of pavers which I chose a color to match my deck. The entire work was done in few days and it was stunning. Immediately I recommended them to my collogue at work. Hey, did I say Ralph helped me also in getting the HOA to approve the construction with their unreasonable demands, yes he did. unfortunately, I have to sell the house.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ralph transformed my backyard to a beautiful Landscape. My hosue is on a hill, so my backyard is like a slope and needs to level it. My next-door neighbor has a tree just right next to my fence, Ralph brings up a solution to keep the tree with a nice hardscape. He was able to answer all my questions and give me good suggestions. He listened to all my needs and preferences, offering helpful advice. After I decided on the color of the paver, he brought me samples to choose from. During the job, I made a couple of changes to the plan, and he patiently listened and made it work for me. He also cleaned up every day before leaving. My experience, from picking the pavers until the job was completed, was great. I am very happy with Ralph and would highly recommend him.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I redid my entire back yard from scratch. I explained to Ralph what I wanted. New concrete slab, pavers over the slab and a new fence. He was very professional and knowledgeable of how he was going to do it. He sent us a catalog of different pavers to choice from and sent samples to touch and feel it before purchasing it. He was very patience with us and we communicated back and forth with difference ideas with patterns and colors of the pavers. All and all just look at the results. Would highly recommend him to do any work on Staten Island period. Good job Ralph!!!!!!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From the moment we started our renovations late last year, Ralph and his team have been nothing short of excellent.

We began with the rebuilding of our front walkway and our driveway from blacktop to concrete. Additionally, Ralph replaced our old, outdated wood fence with a beautiful white vinyl fence and we constructed and were able to bring to life our vision of a cozy backyard patio area.

Ralph so patiently guided us through the process of selecting pavers, flowers and shrubs to designing the landscaping and so effortlessly brought it all together. Ralph and his team finished our job in the promised timeframe and we are so extremely happy with the finished product.

Ralph’s expertise, professionalism, communication and attention to detail is everything you need in an outstanding business. I will most definitely recommend Ralph and his company to my family and friends.
